2018年11月29日、福武ラーニングシアターにてソニー株式会社による寄付講座「ヒューマンオーグメンテーション学」の第四回セミナーが開催されました。前回までの「知覚の拡張」「身体能力の拡張」というテーマに続き、今回は「存在の拡張」をテーマとして、3名の識者による講演およびパネルセッションが行われました。
名古屋大学戸田智基先生による講演では、コミュニケーションにおける音声変換技術の有用性、技術の普及に向けて正しい社会的認知を得ることの重要性が語られました。また、東京大学鳴海拓志先生からは、VR/AR技術により知覚・行動・認知を変容させる多くの研究事例の紹介とともに、他領域の技術者、デザイナー、アーティストとの協働の必要性も強調されました。同講座の石黒祥生客員准教授による講演では、身体・存在・認知の拡張に関する暦本研究室の研究実績が紹介されました。
同講座の暦本純一教授も参加したパネルディスカッションでは、各々の研究領域での課題や動向をもとに、学際的な協働の必要性や研究を社会に広めていくための倫理面等の課題、そして「存在の拡張」に関する研究の今後の動向について議論が交わされました。

On November 29, 2018, at the Fukutake Learning Theater, the 4th seminar of “Human Augmentation (endowed chair by Sony)” was held. Following the theme of “Augmentation of Perception” and “Augmentation of Physical Abilities” up to the last time, three lecturers and panel sessions were held with the theme “Augmentation of Existence” as the theme this time.
In his lecture, Prof. Tomoki Toda of Nagoya University introduced the usefulness of speech conversion technology in communication and the importance of obtaining correct social recognition towards the spread of technology. Assistant Prof. Takuji Narumi of the University of Tokyo highlighted the necessity of collaboration with engineers, designers and artists in other fields along with introduction of many research cases in which perception, behavior and cognition are transformed by VR / AR technology. In a lecture by Visiting Associate Prof. Yoshio Ishiguro of this course, research records of Rekimoto Lab. on Augmentation of physical abilities, existence, and cognition were introduced.
In the panel discussion that Prof. Jun Rekimoto of the same course participated, based on the problems and trends in each research area, the necessity of interdisciplinary collaboration, the ethical issues for disseminating research to society and future trends in research on “Augmentation of existence” were discussed.
